We were lucky to have found this lovely accommodation when researching where to stay in Madrid for our last trip there. It was an exceptional stay. Read on if you’re looking for a great place to stay in Madrid.
Visiting Madrid
For a little bit of background, we visited Madrid in the spring. It was a beautiful, glorious spring when the weather was just perfect for exploring the outdoors. It was our first time in Madrid and Spain, for that matter. We didn’t know what to expect, but we loved Madrid.

Madrid was a lovely city and we loved how it had a lively feel to it, how clean it was, and how friendly and cool the people were. And maybe what added to our fondness for it was the awesome accommodation we had: Olala Style Apartments.
Where to Stay in Madrid
Olala Style Apartments, which we will just call Olala going forward for brevity, is located in Puente de Vallecas. The area is a residential neighborhood, although restaurants, boutiques, and other businesses are scattered just a few minutes away. It is a few minutes walk from the train station.
Background
Olala was a last-minute find for us. At first, we didn’t expect to be traveling in a bigger group so we booked a hotel room in downtown well advance before our trip. But then at the last minute, some friends decided to join us, so we had to change accommodations and look for a bigger place that would accommodate us all.
Because it was a last-minute booking, there weren’t many options available anymore. There were only around three accommodations left for me to choose from. Olala looked the most okay among the lot, so I picked it.

So it stands to reason that I wasn’t expecting much when I booked Olala. In my experience, last-minute bookings didn’t have the best results: you almost always eventually find out that they have a thing or two going against them. So we were surprised to find Olala to be such an exceptional place to stay in Madrid.
Olala Style Apartments
Olala is like an apartment or condo unit that’s located on the third floor of a building. It has a small living room, a kitchen with a counter where you can take your meals, three bedrooms of the same size, and two full bathrooms. It’s spacious and perfect for those traveling in groups.
The apartment is beautiful. It was fitted with tasteful modern furniture and appliances. The decor is a beautiful modern minimalist. You can see that it was decorated with care and with an excellent eye for beauty. Everything was elegant, tasteful, comfortable, and cozy.
Bedroom
Each bedroom can accommodate two people and some had little balconies outside. Two had queen-sized beds, and the other one had two single beds. All rooms were pretty and cozy, although there wasn’t much space to open a suitcase. Still, we made do and managed.
Bathroom
The bathrooms, both attractive as well, came with towels, shampoo, hand soap, toilet paper, and a hairdryer. The showers were great, too.
Kitchen
The kitchen had appliances you need for cooking. There was a stove, oven, microwave, coffee machine, and kettle. A dishwasher was also present.
It was also stocked with some pastries, coffee, juice, and water. All came with the apartment for consumption at no additional cost. We were grateful for that, especially because we arrived at the apartment at midnight after a whole day of travel without having had dinner yet. The pastries came in handy for our growling stomachs, heh.
The apartment came with a washing machine and dryer too, which we liked since we didn’t have to go out anymore and look for a laundromat and then lug our dirty clothes there to wash. Also, it saved us the expense of doing laundry outside.
Furniture
I liked that there were coat hangers and some furniture to store your small bags. There was air conditioning, an iron with an ironing board, and, of course, free Wi-Fi.
Cleanliness
The apartment was tidy and clean, always a welcome.
Location
Although Olala was quite a distance from the city center, it was a few minutes’ walk from the train station so it was well connected that downtown Madrid was easily accessible.
It was near restaurants and there were convenience stores nearby which were handy.
Code Key
We never really got to meet the owners or any manager during our stay there, only a couple of cleaning ladies we ran into once or twice on the stairs. Everything was done online: reservations, payment, and check-in. Even access to the apartment was done via an app. There was something you do in the app and the doors (building door and apartment door) would open for you.
Some Concerns
So now on to what we think may not sit well with others about Olala. Some of these we didn’t mind, but you might appreciate knowing them beforehand.
The neighborhood was not the prettiest in Madrid, but it was quiet, so it was fine with us.
Our apartment was on the third floor and there was no elevator, so it was quite a challenge to climb up with luggage in tow. Good thing we had some pretty strong men in our group who did the heavy lifting, phew.

The rooms didn’t have closets, which would have been nice if there were.
If you’re coming in with a vehicle, I think it would be difficult for you to find a parking space. The apartment complex had none, and there wasn’t any nearby. You can check with the owner beforehand as to where you can park if there’s any available.
Final Thoughts
In closing, Olala is a great place if you’re looking for a place to stay in Madrid. Learn more about it here and see how you like it.
